2013 Fun in Theatre  Summer Camps at GCT

Fun in Theatre summer camps feature full and half-day programs.  Students learn about all aspects of theatre from singing and dancing to acting and art.  There is a camp for every age.  Whether you want to create your own story, design masks or costumes, or brush up on your improvisational skill, these classes are the perfect “FIT” for your young actor.

Introducing this year’s Summer Camp lineup:

Session 1  “Aladdin and Friends”
June 10-June 14
Monday – Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
(Recommended for ages 7-14)
Join us for a magic carpet ride with Aladdin, Jasmine and friends through the city of Agrabah and beyond. Help us bring this exciting story to life on stage through song and dance and learn how to make your own magic carpet fly. You might even meet a Genie…

Session 2  “Adventure to Neverland”
June 17-June 21
Monday – Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
(Recommended for ages 6-12)

Come join Peter Pan, Wendy and the Lost Boys on an adventure to a magical world full of pirates, mermaids and fairies! You can learn how to move, sound and act just like your favorite Neverland characters as you explore what it’s like to live in such a fantastic world. You can even use your arts and crafts skills to create the world of Neverland right in our theatre!

Session 3  “Broadway Rocks”
June 24-June 28
Monday – Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
(Recommended for ages 10+)

Break out your ripped jeans and hair bangles because it’s time to ROCK. From Jesus Christ Superstar to Godspell to Rock of Ages, rock n’ roll has been a part of Broadway musicals for decades. Come rock the stage of GCT in musical numbers from some of the best rock musicals of all time!

Session 4A  Lil’ FIT “Peter Rabbit: In the Garden”
July 8-July 12
Monday – Friday 9:00am-11:00am
(Recommended for ages 4-6)

Come with us on an adventure into the garden with Peter Rabbit and all of his friends. Students will visit Benjamin Bunny, Squirrel Nutkin and Jemima Puddle-Duck as they venture into Mr. McGregor’s garden. So hop like a bunny and get ready to share a Peter Rabbit story through crafts, vocalization and dance.

Session 4B “Project Playwright”
July 8- July 12
Monday – Friday 11:30am-2:30pm
(Recommended for ages 10+)

Are you a storyteller? Do you have characters that are waiting to be brought to life? Join us for a playwriting intensive, where students will work together to develop, write and stage a short play, to be performed on the final day of camp on the GCT stage.

Session 5  “Wonderful World of Oz”
July 15- July 19
Monday – Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
(Recommended for ages 6-12)

Follow the yellow brick road over to GCT for a journey through the Wonderful World of Oz. Students will use improvisation, movement and song to explore the themes of bravery, compassion, intelligence, and an appreciation for home. Grab your ruby slippers “and Toto, too” and travel with us over the rainbow!
